GBVF is crime against humanity, lets protect women and children

As we approach the end of 2023, Hlengani Associates proudly stands in solidarity with the 16 days of GBV activism. Disturbingly, SaferSpace reports that a significant percentage, ranging from 25% to 40% of South African women have endured both physical and/or intimate partner violence (IPV) throughout their lives. Equally alarming is the fact that nearly half of women have suffered emotional or economic abuse at the hands of their intimate partners.
These statistics paint a grim reality that cannot be ignored. It is our collective responsibility to protect and empower women and children who are vulnerable to such atrocities. By raising awareness, advocating for change, and providing support, we can work towards eradicating GBV from our society.

At Hlengani Associates, we firmly believe that every individual deserves to live a life free from violence and fear. We pledge to continue our efforts in combating GBVF, promoting gender equality, and fostering a safe environment for all. Together, let us strive for a future where women and children are protected, respected, and empowered.

The campaign was launched on 25 November 2023, in Mpumalanga Province, and with the theme for 16 Days of Activism Campaign for 2023 is “Accelerating actions to end gender-based violence & femicide, leaving no one behind”. This activism goes beyond to address the safety access for women to basic human rights, at home, work, and any other social gatherings.

As a corporate company, we believe we have a role to play in eliminating GBVF in our community and beyond our corporate offices, but in society in general. In such, we are calling upon everyone to afford women and children a free society to enjoy their basic human rights and further calling upon all to reach out for help wherever encountered GBVF crisis.
