November Blog Post

by 3-Dec-2018

During the month of November we celebrated Disability Rights Awareness Month (Dram), we aim to increase awareness of rights of people living with disabilities as equal citizens, and to speed up equal access to socio-economic opportunities.

At the same time, we also shone the spotlight on diabetes on Diabetes Awareness Day (November 14th). Hlengani played its part by spreading messages on social media educating parents on how to screen and identify signs and symptoms of the deadly disease.

The 16 Days of Activism Campaign was launched on the 25th, under the theme #HearMeToo, in Melmoth, Kwazulu-Natal. Hlengani Communications fully supports this campaign as we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with victims against abusers and perpetrators of violence. We have helped spread messages on different social media platforms increasing awareness on the disturbing statistics of gender-based violence in South Africa. Our country has the highest rate of women and children abuse in the whole world. According to StatsSA and goo.gl/NtbD9z, three women die at the hands of their partners every day. This Must End During Our Lifetime.

As a communications agency we ran a series of dialogues on violence against women and children to focus on the problem, discuss the causes and to find appropriate solutions. We mobilised members of society, especially men to join hands in the fight to eradicate violence against women and children.

We are also proud to have been part of a school shoe collection drive by BlaqSwan, an initiative led by Nkuli Nzimande (one of out directors). Over thirty pairs of shoes were collected and distributed to under privileged school children in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province.

Our client Zuru Skincare hosted a Champaign breakfast on the 10th with the theme: The Zuru Experience. Guests were treated to a pampering session with Zuru products.

Our client Prudence Lebina, the CEO of GAIA Infrastructure Capital was hosted on Classic FM on the 26th of November.

What a month for GAIA which also had prominent feature articles in the latest ]SE Magazine, African Independent and the Financial Mail back page interview for Ms. Lebina.

Our client AfriSam, in partnership with the South African Football Association (SAFA), launched the Ima Nathi project on the 29th of November at the Itsoseng Stadium in the North West province. The event was a success in showcasing AfriSam’s positive social impact.
